The Israeli aggression and oppression against innocent Palestinian lives have intensified. Please make dua for our Muslim brothers and sisters and support generously. The following are some organizations that are accepting donations for Gaza/Palestine:
He sends down from the sky, rain, and valleys flow according to their capacity, and the torrent carries a rising foam. And from that [ore] which they heat in the fire, desiring adornments and utensils, is a foam like it. Thus Allāh presents [the example of] truth and falsehood. As for the foam, it vanishes, [being] cast off; but as for that which benefits the people, it remains on the earth. Thus does Allāh present examples.
Surah Ar-Ra’d, 17
Allah SWT presents parables in the above ayah for us to reflect and understand.
Rain is likened to wahiy. Rain gives life to the earth, similar to how knowledge from Revelation gives life to the heart.
As rain descends, just like a valley takes water according to its capacity, each person’s heart takes knowledge according to his/her capacity. The hearts differ, as some retain much knowledge while others forget. Bigger hearts will take in substantial knowledge similar to how a deeper valley will have more water.
As rain falls, the torrent causes foam to rise to its surface. The foam is impurities pushed aside leaving the purest form of water. As knowledge begins to flow in a person’s heart, doubts rise up and are cast aside, like the foam of the water. Continuous intake of knowledge will remove one’s doubts, jealousies, hypocrisies, leaving a purer heart.
A similar foam appears when the earth’s minerals are heated like gold, silver, and iron. Its impurities and scum rise to its surface and vanish. What remains is the purified form of metal used to benefit people by making jewelry and goods.
Through these parables, Allah presents the example of truthhood and falsehood. The foam and scum of the water and metal are cast off. They are worthless. This is falsehood which is cast off and useless. The purer form of water and metals remain from which people derive much benefit. What remains and lasts on the earth is what benefits people. This is like the truth that prevails.
A warm greeting to all JILC friends and family as we invite you to join us at our new location in Dubai to meet each other and discuss how we can work together to bond the community and leave a legacy behind us. Ever since we had to close the doors to our previous space in Al Wasl Road, we have missed the feeling of togetherness that comes from having a dedicated home of our own. After many months of searching and hard work from the JILC team we have found a new location for the JILC family to come together once again.
We will open the doors for a welcome evening after Maghrib prayers on Saturday 17th September in’sha’Allah and welcome everyone to join us to reconnect and share ideas for JILC’s future.
Speakers like Sheikh Ayaz Housee and Sheikh Taher Khaled will join us on the evening to share their thoughts and we would love for the wider JILC community to join us.
We plan to release a full programme of events starting in October in’sha’Allah, and we share some details during the welcome event.
Please share this invite with your friends and family and we look forward to seeing you at the new centre in Al Warqa 4 in’sha’Allah.
To find the centre, search for JILC New Centre on Google Maps.

“Therefore remember Me (by praying, glorifying, etc.). I will remember you”[al-Baqarah 2:152]
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded us to recite a lot of Tasbeeh (“Subhan-Allaah”), Tahmeed (“Al-hamdu Lillaah”) and Takbeer (“Allaahu akbar”) during this time. ‘Abdullaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are no days greater in the sight of Allaah and in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Him than these ten days, so during this time recite a great deal of Tahleel (“La ilaaha ill-Allaah”), Takbeer and Tahmeed.”
(Reported by Ahmad, 7/224; Ahmad Shaakir stated that it is saheeh).
