Why this Course
New Muslims face significant challenges. One of these challenges is that despite an abundance of material in books and on the internet, information is of varying quality and accuracy, and is often spread across many places. This information is often mixed with content which is inappropriate, too detailed, or confusing for a new Muslim. There is also a lack of simple, structured material from which a new Muslim can learn that which they really need to know in the first few days and weeks. Welcome to Islam is a unique programme for new Muslims, dealing with the first few weeks of a person’s life as a new Muslim. We intend to cover only the things that are essential for a new Muslim to know, in a way that is easily accessible to people who are new to Islam.
About the Course
The course is based on short module intended to give the new Muslim the essential tools that she needs to get started in their new religion. This will include matters of belief, common problems and how to solve them, the prayer, Islamic terminology, and some of the basic commands and prohibitions of Islam. The aim is that new Muslims will be able, after completing the course, to integrate with existing classes and facilities for Muslims, and be comfortable and confident in their new life. The course will conclude in time for the ‘Asr prayer, and we will pray together before leaving.
Week 1: The five pillars of Islam; the six pillars of faith; an introduction to cleanliness and prayer.
Week 2: Getting to grips with pronunciation; the words that we say in the prayer; prayer in congregation.

[Quran, 94:5]
We cannot go through life without going through hardships. They are inevitable in the life of a Muslim as they come to us from Allah alone as a test of our faith. However, our sole objective must be to pass through the hardships and get closer to our Creator.
But how does one overcome them?
The “Hope in the face of Hardship” seminar by Ustadh Muhammad Tim Humble and Ustadh AbdulRahman Hassan will shed light upon the hardships of both Prophet Yunus and Prophet Ayyub (عليهما السلام ) in detail and make us aware of how they endured the toughest of trails with steadfastness, perseverance and solid faith in Allah.
By the end of the “Hope in the face of Hardship” Seminar, In Sha Allah, we will learn:
· The story of Prophet Yunus ( عليه السلام ) and the supplication he made during the time of distress, through which Allah has promised to relieve the distress of every believer.
· The story of Prophet Ayyub ( عليه السلام ), his hardships, and why he was one of Allah’s most sincere worshippers.
· To reflect upon self and assess our relationship with Allah.
· How to deal with prolonged hardships, without losing hope in Allah
· The tricks and traps by Shaitan during hardship and how he makes us despair the mercy of Allah.
· The role sins play in causing hardship and the fundamental principles concerning them.
